We review the geometry of the moduli space of flat connections and Hitchin’s moduli space for an orientable or non-orientable surface, and study various line bundles over the moduli spaces. We consider the quantisation of Hitchin’s moduli space for a nonorientable surface by branes and mirror symmetry.
